2015 Oregon Brewers Festival Preview

Oregon Brewers Festival 2015
2015 Oregon Brewers Festival Preview By John Lovegrove

The 28th Annual Oregon Brewers Festival kicks off Wednesday, July 22nd on the banks of the Willamette River downtown.

We at Portland Beer Festivals will be there taking in the sights and suds.

In 1987 Art Larrance, along with Bridgeport Brewing Ponzi’s and the Widmer Brothers organized the first festival which was immediately a runaway hit, more than selling out all the beer they could get their hands on, and triple the number of expected patrons showed up.

Here we are in 2015, welcoming over 100 different beers from around the United States, plus by special invitation this year we celebrate with 5 of New Zealands best breweries, and some returning brewers from the Netherlands.

Personally I’ve been at opening day 18 years straight and it’s one of the best days of the year!OBF remains one of the best deals! The first OBF in 1987 cost $1 for the cup, and 2 tokens for a full pour, one for the half pour. This year, at $7 for the cup and still only $1 per token. Not bad for 28 years of inflation!

The OBF’s Brand New Mobile Website

One of the greatest innovations this year is coaster.me – their brand new mobile website listing all the details, all the beers, and for the first time in which trailer to find each beer. They’ve done a great job with the site and it’s saved to my iphone.
