Barrel Aged Beer Festival
Rock Bottom Brewery 2019 Preview
We tasted through a number of the beers that will be poured at this event and Wow! I really enjoyed them.
Gypsy Lovers Imperial Stout
Of the beers we sampled during this media preview, my favorite was the Gypsy Lovers – an Imperial Stout aged in a Rose City Distilling Rye Whiskey Barrel. This was a stunningly delicious barrel aged beer!
I also particularly enjoyed these 4 other beers that will each be poured at this Portland beer festival –
Reckless Rabbit – a barley wine that was barrel aged for 12 months in a Port Wine Barrel.
Pagan Love – a Doppelbock that was barrel aged in a Rose City Distilling Whiskey Barrel for 12 months.
5th Dimension – a Belgian Quad that was aged in a Pinot Noir Barrel. Todd won a gold medal for this beer at the 2018 Festival of Wood & Barrel-Aged Beer (FoBAB).
Portchata – A Porter that was aged in a Jim Beam Barrel. I was not sure if I would like tasting horchata flavors in a beer, however it worked and I liked it very much!
Sometimes there are food offerings at a beer festival that you can purchase separately, at this event the ticket price INCLUDES a buffet of wonderful food!
The buffet table will feature a charcuterie plate, meatballs, chicken skewers, mini sliders, veggie quesadillas, and a chocolate fountain!
Here is my suggestion – get a pour of the Gypsy Lovers Imperial Stout and have it with some chocolate from the chocolate fountain!
When you factor in getting 10 each 4 oz. pours of barrel aged beer, and the food that come with your $35 ticket – this festival is a screaming deal!
Brewmaster Todd Britt
Rock Bottom Brewery Brewmaster Todd Britt brewed each of the beers that will be poured at this festival.
During this festival Todd will be on hand to answer any questions that you may have about the beer, and he will also be giving tours of his brewery.
